Not a Britpop hit in earshot, mind. Instead we get polished, introspective acoustic minstreldom with similar tunes to Badly Drawn Boy, particularly the Bewilderbeast-ly "Smoke Rings". The psychedelic scallies that he's been hanging around with in recent times also leave their trace, both physically as guest musicians and spiritually on the skunk-skank of "Always Knocking". All in all, an admirable comeback.
