But while her parent band draw on prairie-wide Americana, Waves Are Universal moves closer to English and Celtic folk. Furnished with flutes and glockenspiels, the fresh clarity of "Gather Me Up" and "Deelay" magnify Goswell's introspective and breathy voice. At times songs pass by too easily, but "Coastline"'s overcast atmospherics are bewitching.
