Everyday, we bring you the best thing we’ve seen on YouTube — a great piece of archive footage, a music promo or a clip from one of our favourite movies of TV shows.
Today: Be enchanted with Joanna Newsom’s video for “The Bean And The Sprout.”
This track is taken from Newsom’s debut album, 2004’s “The Milk-Eyed Mender.”
The harpist and singer-songwriter is currently causing waves of appreciation with her second album “Ys” – made with arranger Van Dyke Parks.
This video for “The Bean And The Sprout” is simple, and enchanting because of it. Simple school imagery combined with Newsom playing at being a fairy, singing in the trees – but all of it comes back to the central feature – her harp.
