The producer Bob Ezrin has found himself the subject of a Twitter rant by Kanye West.

Ezrin โ€“ whose credits include Pink Floyd, Lou Reed and Genesis โ€“ wrote to the Lefsetz Letter โ€“ a music industry email written by music industry analyst and critic Bob Lefsetz โ€“ offering his thoughts on Westโ€™s career.

In the piece, published yesterday (February 22), Ezrin wrote, โ€œUnlike other creators in his genre like Jay-Z, Tupac, Biggie or even M.C. Hammer for that matter, itโ€™s unlikely that weโ€™ll be quoting too many of Kanyeโ€™s songs 20 years from now.

โ€œHe didnโ€™t open up new avenues of public discourse like NWA, or introduce the world to a new art form like Grandmaster Flash, or even meaningfully and memorably address social issues through his music like Marshall, Macklemore and Kendrick.โ€

Ezrin, who admits to having not listened to Westโ€™s new album The Life Of Pablo, went on to accuse the rapper of indulging in โ€œexcessive behavior, egomaniacal tantrums and tasteless grandstanding,โ€ adding: โ€œHeโ€™s like that flasher who interrupts a critical game by running naked across the field.โ€

West reacted strongly to Ezrinโ€™s views.
