'St Vincent' was recorded in Dallas, Texas with Dap-Kings drummer Homer Steinweiss, McKenzie Smith of Midlake and producer John Congleton. Of the album, Clark has said: "I knew the groove needed to be paramount... I wanted to make a party record you could play at a funeral."
