Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry has confirmed that the bandโ€™s new album is almost finished.

In an interview with Rolling Stone he says the band are working on mixing the new tracks this week:

โ€œItโ€™s really close. Weโ€™ve started to mix. Weโ€™ve mixed a couple of the songs already, but I guess this week weโ€™re really kind of rolling into mix mode. We have a couple of tracks left to finish up, just to put some overdubs on, but weโ€™re kind of going from the final, final recording tracks to mixing this week.โ€

He also confirmed that the band will release a new single โ€œin three or four weeksโ€. It will be the first release from their 15th studio album โ€“ the follow-up to 2004โ€™s Honkinโ€™ On Bobo โ€“ which will be produced by Jack Douglas, the man behind 1975โ€™s Toys In The Attic.

Speaking of the new material, Perry said: โ€œThe recordโ€™s gonna sound modern and hi-fi. Weโ€™re not sitting around going, โ€œWeโ€™re gonna do Night In The Ruts again or Rocks againโ€. We want to make a modern sounding record, but the main thing is the energy that the early records had.โ€

The bandโ€™s singer Steven Tyler has previously said that they are hoping to release their new record in July. One track, โ€œLegendary Childโ€, which is likely to feature on the record, will also appear on the G.I. Joe: Retaliation film soundtrack.
