CHERRY GHOST
Bolton native Simon Aldred is Cherry Ghost – although he plays and records with a quintet – and took the name for his bittersweet, slightly country-tinged pop project from a Wilco song.
His two singles to date, “Mathematics” and “People Help The People” betray a melodic soulfulness that pitches them somewhere between Starsailor and Richard Ashcroft, although Aldred himself describes his sound as “Willie Nelson meets Walt Disney”.
You can decide whether he’s right when Cherry Ghost play the Uncut Arena on Sunday at Latitude.
Latitude takes place July 12 – 15 at Henham Park, Southwold, Suffolk.
