Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds add extra date to tour

Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds have added an extra date to their forthcoming UK autumn tour. The band will now play the Dome in Cave's hometown of Brighton on October 24. Tickets for the new date go on sale at 10am [BST] on August 2. The Brighton show will kick off the run of gigs, before shows at London Hammersmith Apollo (October 26, 27), Manchester Apollo (October 30), Glasgow Barrowland (October 31) and Edinburgh Usher Hall (November 1).

Arcade Fire confirm live dates

Arcade Fire have announced details of their first live dates for 2014. The band, who are preparing to release their fourth album in October, will perform live on the Big Day Out touring festival of Australia and New Zealand in January.

Nirvana reveal details of In Utero 20th anniversary edition

Nirvana's 1993 album In Utero will be re-released to mark its 20th anniversary on September 23. A remastered version of the band's third and final studio album will feature 70 tracks including previously unreleased recordings and demos, B-sides and compilation tracks and live material featuring the band's final touring line-up of Kurt Cobain, Krist Novoselic and Dave Grohl and Pat Smear. It will also include the Live And Loud show from Seattle's Pier 48 on December 13, 1993. A separate DVD release of that show will also be released on September 23.

Nile Rodgers given all-clear from cancer

Nile Rodgers has been given the all clear from cancer; he was diagnosed with the disease in 2010. Announcing his current test results on Twitter, he wrote: "Instead of showing gross internal video I'll show my doctor's fly examination room. I'M ALL CLEAR AGAIN!" However, Rogers later followed the tweet up with another one, which read: "I never celebrate much when I get an All Clear because in 6 months I'll go through the same drama." He added: "All clear is a lot better than the cancer has returned and it's spread."

The Beta Band to release six-disc career retrospective

The Beta Band are released a career-spanning box set on October 7. Titled The Regal Years, the six-disc set will be released through Parlophone, Regal's parent label. The set include their first three EPs, three studio albums (plus bonus tracks), a disc of live BBC sessions and a sixth CD featuring unreleased demos and additional live performances. Metallica soundtrack set for September release

Metallica are set to release the soundtrack for their forthcoming 3D feature film Metallica - Through The Never on September 23. Metallica - Through The Never (Music from the Motion Picture) will comprise two CDs and includes tracks from their shows last year at Rexall Place in Edmonton and Rogers Arena in Vancouver, the gigs where the band recorded all their performance footage for the movie. A vinyl version will be available later in the year. The film will be released in the US on September 27 and in the UK later this autumn.

Jack White donates £130,000 to National Recording Preservation Foundation

Jack White has donated £130,000 ($200,000) to the National Recording Preservation Foundation. The NRPF is an independent, non-profit, charitable organisation launched in 2011 by the US Congress. Its aim is to support archives, libraries and other cultural institutions committed to preserving America's recorded sounds.
