There’s a Youtube clip of Ryuichi Sakamoto, dressed in black hunched over a piano playing the piece of music he is most famous for – “Forbidden Colours”, from the film Merry Christmas, Mr Lawrence. It is, I guess, the idea of Sakamoto we’re most familiar with – the artist, his instrument of choice, the music he is playing both delicate and fluid.

Laurie Anderson has described Lou Reed's final moments in a moving farewell written for Rolling Stone.
Anderson's tribute describes how the couple met and married, and details Reed's ill health over the past two years. It explains that Reed first became sick from treatments of interferon before developing liver cancer and advancing diabetes.
Lou Reed's wife, Laurie Anderson, has posted an open letter online to the residents of Springs, East Hampton, the New York town where Reed passed away over the weekend.
Lou Reed has died, aged 71.
Reed died at his home on Long Island of an ailment that stemmed from his recent liver transplant.
The New York Times reports that Dr. Charles Miller, the surgeon who performed the transplant on Reed at the Cleveland Clinic in April this year, revealed that Reed was back in Ohio last week for further treatment.
