Neil Young And Crazy Horse, the Foo Fighters and the Black Keys are due to headline a a one-day concert, The Global Festival, on September 29 at the Great Lawn at New York's Central Park.
Billed as "A free ticketed music festival to help end extreme poverty", the event will coincide with the United Nations General Assembly meeting in New York to discuss reducing poverty.
Happy Mondays singer Shaun Ryder has said he's happy his band didn't as wait as long as The Stone Roses to reform.
When asked by The Guardian if he wished he had left it longer to reform the Mondays after finding out the amount of money the Roses were offered to reform, which has been estimated at £26 million, he replied: "What, and got as skint as they did? No thanks! I've got six kids who've all gotta go to private school!"
Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl is set to be honoured by his hometown of Warren, Ohio with the unveiling of two 900 pound drum sticks.
The gigantic sticks have been carved from poplar logs as a tribute to the former Nirvana drummer. They will go on display on July 7 at the town's Warren Amphitheater, reports Rolling Stone.
In September they will be moved to Dave Grohl Alley, which was dedicated to the musician in 2009.

Dan Auerbach, frontman of blues duo The Black Keys, has said in a new interview that he and drummer Patrick Carney 'didn't want to be rock stars'.
Speaking to Interview Magazine, Auerbach said that success doesn't matter to the band. He explained: "We don't have expectations or dreams, because those will always just bite you in the ass. We're very content with where we are and the speed we've been going. The only way we got through was by keeping our expectations very low. We didn't want to be rock stars."
