By its very nature, garage rock can be a trashy, erratic business - inevitable given the unbridled spontaneity it privileges. One of the many amazing things about Ty Segall and the ever-expanding circle of artists around him, however, is how they've found a way of adding consistency to the volatile mix of productivity and excitement.

Dan Michaelson is not a particularly prolific Tweeter, but between musing about IKEA hotdogs and the time he DJed in Topshop (playing John Tavener, Laurie Anderson and ESG back-to-back) he found time to re-Tweet a backhanded compliment from a thoughtful soul called @recordshopbloke. “I do like Dan Michaelson's records,” said the bloke, “but sometimes it’s a bit like a mate on the phone going on endlessly about his tragic life.”

Bob Dylan to release complete Basement Tapes sessions

Bob Dylan will release The Basement Tapes Complete: The Bootleg Series Vol. 11 on November 3. The Basement Tapes Complete: The Bootleg Series Vol. 11 is a six disc set which will feature 138 songs, while a special two disc edition - The Basement Tapes Raw: The Bootleg Series Vol. 11 - features 38 songs. The Basement Tapes Raw: The Bootleg Series Vol. 11 will also be released on as 3 album set on 180-gram vinyl.

The first four minutes of new Elliott Smith film Heaven Adores You have been revealed online. Scroll down to watch them. The film is the first full-length documentary with access to Smith's close circle of friends and was funded by a Kickstarter campaign.
