Hallogallo 2010: London Barbican, October 21, 2010

A couple of days ago, I asked here whether anyone had seen the Michael Rother & Friends/Hallogallo 2010 show yet. Olmanal was one person who responded. The show in Ghent was great, he said, but noted, “‘Deluxe (Immer Wieder)’ with Steve Shelley pounding away on the drums, may not be exactly how you remember it.”

The 36th Uncut Playlist Of 2010

Interesting bit of heat around the blog last week about Neil Young’s “Le Noise”, where as a result of expressing mild scepticism about Daniel Lanois’ production schtick, I learned that, “Such a lack of musical knowledge and understanding art is unforgivable.”

The Pop Group: London Highbury Garage, September 11, 2010

I guess a lot of people have a John Peel epiphany, and mine definitely came at some point in the early ‘80s when, for no obvious reason, he dug out “She Is Beyond Good And Evil” by The Pop Group.

Fool’s Gold: Club Uncut, August 16, 2010

Not to stereotype us in any way, but marvellous though Club Uncut is, not much dancing has traditionally gone on there. As a one-stop shop for American songwriters of a certain stripe, we’ve done pretty well. But last night’s show by Fool’s Gold is something else entirely.

Grinderman: “Grinderman 2”

The arrival yesterday of a remix of “Heathen Child”, with added Robert Fripp, reminded me that I’d somehow neglected to write anything about “Grinderman 2”, even with Nick Cave on the cover of the current Uncut.

Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy & The Cairo Gang, Trembling Bells: London Shepherd’s Bush Empire, August 4, 2010

As a couple of you who’d seen earlier shows suggested yesterday, Will Oldham was on great form for the Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy & The Cairo Gang show in London last night. Not sure if anyone else who was there can corroborate, but did he wet himself during the encores?

The 30th Uncut Playlist Of 2010

First up, if you’ve been enjoying the Nick Cave business in the new issue of Uncut, something useful showed up on our Twitter feed the other day: a Spotify playlist of our Top 30 Cave tracks compiled by Wavey Davey 001. Thanks for that.
