Iggy Pop will deliver this year's John Peel lecture, it has been announced. The singer, who hosts a Sunday afternoon show on BBC Radio 6 Music, will deliver a speech titled 'Free Music in a Capitalist Society' which will be broadcast on 6Music live on Monday, October 13 and will later be shown on BBC Four on October 19.

Gruff Rhys shortlisted for book award for American Interior

Gruff Rhys has been shortlisted for the Gordon Burn Prize for his book American Interior. Rhys has been nominated alongside five other writers for a £5,000 award for his writings, part of a multimedia project which included an album and a film. The prize, now in its second year, will be judged by comedian, actor and musician Julian Barratt, poet John Burnside, artist Sarah Lucas and novelist Benjamin Myers, who won the award last year for his book, Pig Iron.

Vashti Bunyan has shared a new song, entitled "Across The Water". Listen to the track below, which comes from the artist's new album Heartleap, which is released on October 6 via FatCat. The LP follows her 1970 debut Just Another Diamond Day and 2005's comeback album Lookaftering. The new album was produced by Bunyan herself and was primarily recorded in her own studio.
