The Flaming Lips preview ‘Freak Night’ concert film – watch

The Flaming Lips have put a preview of their upcoming concert film online – you can watch it at the bottom of this page. The film, titled Freak Night, chronicles the legendary psychedelic band's free concert in Oklahoma City on October 26, and is reportedly available via the band's website next week. No release date has been officially announced. Tweeting stills from the concert movie, frontman Wayne Coyne wrote: "Freaky shit from Freak Night!!!Comes out next week motherfuckers!! Halloween for Christmas!!"

Thurston Moore launches appeal to find stolen guitar

Thurston Moore had his 1960 Fender Jazzmaster stolen on Wednesday (December 12). The incident occurred around midnight at a Philadelphia hotel, reports a message on Sonic Youth's website.

The Flaming Lips’ Wayne Coyne in bomb scare incident

Flaming Lips frontman Wayne Coyne has revealed that he found himself at the centre of a bomb scare earlier this month. The singer was stopped at Will Rogers airport in Oklahoma City on November 10, after a dead grenade in his hand luggage set off alarms at a TSA checkpoint, reports TMZ. Wayne was on his way to Los Angeles to catch a preview of the new Flaming Lips musical Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots, and told police that the grenade was given to him at a party as a joke.

The Stones’ new compilation, GRRR!, is reviewed in the new issue of Uncut (December 2012, Take 187), out now, so for this week’s archive feature we head back to Uncut’s April 2008 issue (Take 131). Mick Jagger is micro-managing the release of their new, Scorsese-directed concert movie, Shine A Light. Keith Richards is lounging on a Caribbean beach with his dogs. Jerry Lee Lewis’ bandmate killed in shootout

A member of rock'n'roll star Jerry Lee Lewis' band was killed in a shootout on Sunday (October 14) in Memphis. Seventy-year-old bass player BB Cunningham was working as a security guard at an apartment complex when he went to investigate a gunshot noise nearby. Witnesses say they then heard further gunshots and Cunningham, along with an unidentified 16-year-old, was found dead at the scene. Police are currently investigating the incident. Judy Baladez, a resident of the apartment buildings told WMCTV:
