Neil Young announces Chicago solo shows

Neil Young has added new dates to his ongoing solo acoustic tour. Young will perform at the Chicago Theatre on April 21 and 22. These are in addition to the four shows he's scheduled to play at the Dolby Theatre, Los Angeles on March 29, 30, April 1 and 2 and the two shows at the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center, Dallas, Texas on April 17 and 18.

Chicago blues guitarist Magic Slim dies aged 75

Magic Slim, the Chicago blues guitarist, has died aged 75. A heavy smoker who suffered from emphysema and heart problems, Slim was forced by illness to cut short a tour with his band, the Teardrops, in late January, reports Reuters. Born Morris Holt to Mississippi sharecroppers in August 1937, Slim started out playing the piano. But after losing a little finger in a cotton gin accident at 14, he switched to guitar. On his first trip to Chicago to play for friend and mentor Magic Sam, Sam nicknamed his friend Slim on account of his physique.

Tom Waits appeared on Monday evening's edition of Late Night With David Letterman, where he performed "Chicago", from his most recent album, 2011's Bad As Me, live for the first time. Musicians joining Waits on stage included his son Casey Waits on drums, long time bassist Larry Taylor, guitarist David Hidalgo, keyboardist Augie Myers and guitarist Big Bill Morganfield.
