Oneohtrix Point Never. Emeralds, Mark McGuire

A few months ago, I managed to smuggle a track by Oneohtrix Point Never onto an Uncut CD; a David Bowie-themed compilation of vaguely futuristic music. Oneohtrix is the project of a guy based in New York called Daniel Lopatin, who reconfigures various kosmische tropes with some ‘80s sci-fi vibes and comes up with a kind of New Age music for underground noise fans.

Bit of a dash today, since we’re finishing up the end-of-year issue, Top 50 Albums Of 2010 and all. Some good new things in here, as you can see; particularly taken with the Six Organs record.

The return of Alan Partridge

This week has mostly been about Steve Coogan. The Trip – his BBC series with Rob Brydon – has prompted much discussion here in the Uncut office. As has the return of Coogan’s most famous creation, Alan Partridge – who as I’m sure you know by now is back in a series of short episodes released online.
