“Stay with us”: David Bowie weighs into Scottish independence debate

David Bowie urged Scotland to "stay with us" and not vote for independence in his acceptance speech at last night's Brit Awards (February 19). The ceremony took place at London's O2 Arena earlier this evening, with Bowie winning Best International Male. However, the singer was not at the venue to pick up his award, and instead sent supermodel Kate Moss to pick up the prize on his behalf and read out his acceptance speech.

Tony Visconti has said that there are two or three "astounding" tracks left over from the sessions for the artist's 2013 comeback album, The Next Day. The producer was speaking at the Music Producers Guild Awards on February 14, where he collected Bowie's innovation honour on the artist's behalf. He said that the unreleased songs could still be put out one day.

Historic music club Friars Aylesbury is the focus of a major new rock music exhibition featuring rare memorabilia from David Bowie, Lou Reed, The Velvet Underground, Iggy Pop, Queen, Genesis, Blondie and more. Entitled The Evolution of Friars (1969-2014), the exhibition runs from March 1 – July 5, 2014 at the Buckinghamshire County Museum in Aylesbury, and will feature rare posters, photographs and memorabilia from Friars archive as well as unique items on loan from artists who have performed there.

David Bowie to release “Rebel Rebel” 40th anniversary picture disc

David Bowie is to release a limited edition picture disc commemorating the 40th anniversary of "Rebel Rebel". This the latest in the run of 40th anniversary 7" picture discs released by Parlophone Records, following on from "Starman", "John I'm Only Dancing", "The Jean Genie", "Drive In Saturday", "Live On Mars" and "Sorrow". "Rebel Rebel" was originally released in February 1974 and reached No 5 in the UK singles chart.
