Van Morrison has spoken out about the forthcoming reissue of his album, Moondance.
The album is due for a deluxe reissue on September 30 through Warner Bros.
However, in a statement posted on his website, Van Morrison has this to say about the reissue.
Consider this the last in a short series of encounters with somewhat cantankerous sorts, following accounts in this space over the couple of weeks of meetings with Lou Reed and Gordon Lightfoot, both of which have stirred some passing interest and lively comment. Today’s subject is Van Morrison, by reputation a notoriously tough assignment, as I would discover.
Van Morrison is to release a new studio album in October, his first since 2008's Keep It Simple.
The album, called Born To Sing: No Plan B, is to be released on October 1. It marks his return to Blue Note Records, who previously released Morrison's Grammy nominated What’s Wrong With This Picture? on Blue Note in 2003.
Like the many thousands who will eventually be here this evening, I’m still on my way to the Hop Farm when Los Lobos play, which is why when I get there, the band’s David Hidalgo, instrumental star of the last two Bob Dylan albums, is already in the hospitality bar, deep in conversation with a couple of confederates. Things moving to a strict schedule here and people going on surprisingly early means I’ve also missed Dr John and have in fact made it just in time for Blondie, who have just stepped out on the main stage to a great cheer.
