Inside the new Uncut…

Vile day here in London, improved to some degree I'd hope by the arrival in UK shops of the new edition of Uncut. It has Nick Drake on the cover, as you probably know if you're a subscriber and your copy arrived over the weekend.

October 2014

The story of Drake as an uncompromising musical visionary is told by Joe Boyd, John Wood, Richard Thompson, Ashley Hutchings, Beverley Martyn and more who knew the singer-songwriter.

This month in Uncut

Nick Drake, Ryan Adams, Jeff Tweedy and Queen all feature in the new issue of Uncut, dated October 2014 (Take 209) and out tomorrow (August 26).

The package – which is pictured above – will be released in a hard-case clothbound sleeve and is available to buy from August 5.

Creedence Clearwater Revival – the full story, by John Fogerty, Stu Cook and Doug Clifford

John Fogerty is out on an extensive tour of the US right now, so it seems a good time to dip into the archives and remind ourselves of this great feature from Uncut’s February 2012 issue (177). At the dawn of the ’70s, Creedence Clearwater Revival were the biggest band in the world – a brilliant and driven hit machine with deep roots in American tradition. By 1972, though, it was all over, and the ex-bandmates embarked on a bitter war that still continues, 40 years later.

The screening will be followed by a unique 60-minute live experience that includes a live performance with Nick Cave, Warren Ellis and Barry Adamson and a Q&A with the creative team behind the film including directors Iain Forsyth & Jane Pollard and special guests. The event will be broadcast live by satellite to 150 UK cinemas.
