Thurston Moore has announced details of his new album, The Best Day.
The album was recorded with Debbie Googe of My Bloody Valentine as well as Sonic Youth drummer Steve Shelley and Chrome Hoof guitarist James Sedwards. The Best Day will be released on October 21 through Matador. Hear the album title track below.

Beck has unveiled a new version of his recent stand-alone single "I Won't Be Long", this time featuring Kim Gordon.
The track follows another new song, "Defriended", which Beck unveiled last month. The new, 15 minute long version of "I Won't Be Long" features a spoken word segment by the former Sonic Youth member. Listen to the track here.

Thurston Moore had his 1960 Fender Jazzmaster stolen on Wednesday (December 12).
The incident occurred around midnight at a Philadelphia hotel, reports a message on Sonic Youth's website.
Sonic Youth’s Thurston Moore has unveiled his brand new band, Chelsea Light Moving.
As well as Moore, the band also features Keith Moore on guitar, Samara Lubelski on bass and John Moloney on drums.
The band's first release, "Burroughs", is inspired by the last words of Beat author William Burroughs, reports Spin.

It came as something of a surprise the other day to discover that it’s been something like eight years since Jim O’Rourke released a new solo album. In the interim, he’s not been entirely quiet, as involvement with Sonic Youth and the Loose Fur project with Jeff Tweedy and Glenn Kotche, as well as sundry other lower-profile activities prove.
I’m conscious that, with the Lemonheads and Sonic Youth posts last week, the blog’s slightly in danger of degenerating into something of a dewy-eyed home for alt-rock fans who were students in the late ‘80s. But unfortunately, I’m going to have to keep this going for a while longer, since the new Dinosaur Jr album represents another band of that generation sustaining their current run of form.
