U2 release new album for free

U2 have released their new album Songs Of Innocence and are giving it away for free. The band announced the release at Apple's iPhone 6 launch in California, where they also performed its first single, "The Miracle (of Joey Ramone)". Cliff Richard to play free show in New York for Morrissey fans

Cliff Richard has announced a free headline show in New York after his Morrissey support show was cancelled. The singer will play The Gramercy Theatre on June 21, and ticket holders for the original show at Brooklyn's Barclays Center will be let in as a priority. Joni Mitchell: “Free love? It’s a ruse for guys”

Joni Mitchell has spoken out against the Sixties' culture of free love. In an interview published in the new issue of Uncut, Mitchell says "Free love? It's a ruse for guys. There's no such thing. "Look at the rep I got, there was a list of people whose path I crossed... in the Summer Of Love they made me into a love-bandit. "So much for free love. Nobody knows more than me what a ruse that was. That was for guys coming out of Prohibition. It was hard to get laid before that."

David Bowie backs campaign to save Croydon bandstand that inspired ‘Memory Of A Free Festival’

David Bowie has backed a campaign to get a bandstand he once performed on in Croydon, South London, restored to its former glory. On August 16, 1969 – the same weekend as Woodstock – Bowie was an aspiring psychedelic folk singer and organised a gig at Croydon Road Recreation Ground in Beckenham, which aimed to encourage donations for his Beckenham Arts Lab project. Dave Grohl’s all-original soundtrack to his documentary “Sound City” is now free to stream at the NME website. ‘The Sound City Players’ – essentially David Grohl teaming with an all-star team of guests, matches Grohl with Stevie Nicks, Josh Homme, John Fogarty, Trent Reznor and Paul McCartney.

Suede release new song ‘Barriers’ as free download

Suede have given fans new song "Barriers" as a free download today (Jan 7). The track is the first to be heard from the band's brand new studio album, which will be titled Bloodsports. Bloodsports will be Suede's sixth studio album and their first since 2002. "Barriers" is the first song to be lifted from the album, due out in March, and is available from their official website now. An official single, titled "It Starts and Ends With You", is due for release in February.
