A couple of months ago, I was staying with an old friend, whose teenage daughter was heading out to an ‘80s movie all-nighter. Before she went, she listed what they were going to watch; Pretty In Pink, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off – the kind of John Hughes films that are now routinely used as exemplars of that decade. Her father and I were talking, and we realised we hadn’t actually seen any of them.

Glastonbury will become the first UK festival with its own dedicated 4G network, it has been confirmed.
The festival has struck a deal with mobile service provider EE which will give fans attending the festival fast mobile internet speeds and allow for even quicker photo and video upload times. There will also be an official Glastonbury festival app, which will give festival goers updates from around the site and news alerts. Additionally, two large recharge tents will be built onsite with users of any mobile network able to charge their phones in between watching bands.
Best known for his work on The Beach Boys’ Smile, Parks is a student of serious music, whose flirtation with the counterculture saw him fall in with unlikely company. His first job was arranging “The Bear Necessities” for Disney’s Jungle Book, but his association with Brian Wilson led to him producing debuts by Ry Cooder and Randy Newman, as well as making idiosyncratic solo albums. The Rolling Stones have been forced to postpone the opening date of their upcoming North American tour.
The band were due to kick off the 50 & Counting tour on May 2 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. But the show has now been bumped back 24 hours to accommodate a sporting fixture - the National Basketball Association playoffs.
Animal Collective have announced details of a remix EP, which is set for release on May 27.
The EP draws on material from the Baltimore group's tenth studio LP Centipede Hz, which was released last September (2012).
The EP features remixes of the track "Monkey Riches" by Gang Gang Dance's Brian Degraw (which you can listen to below), Chicago house producer Traxman and New York underground dance producers Teengirl Fantasy. It also features a remix of 'New Town Burnout' by Seattle based hip-hop collective Shabazz Palaces.
