Paul Weller added to Isle Of Wight festival lineup

Paul Weller has been confirmed to perform at Isle Of Wight Festival this year, appearing directly before The Stone Roses on the main stage. The festival will also be headlined by Bon Jovi and The Killers in 2013. Speaking about his appearance on the Friday night, Paul Weller says: "It's been a while since I've played the Isle Of Wight Festival and I'm excited to be playing it this year, it's a great way to kick off the summer."

Bob Dylan, Paul McCartney, AC/DC recordings added to Grammy Hall of Fame

Recordings by Bob Dylan, Paul McCartney, Frank Sinatra, AC/DC and more are to be inducted into the Grammy Hall Of Fame, according to a report on Rolling Stone. Dylan's 1964 song "The Times They Are A-Changing", the Paul McCartney & Wings album, Band On The Run (1973), and AC/DC's 1980 album Back In Black will all join the Grammy Hall Of Fame, alongside recordings by Elton John, Little Richard and James Brown.

Depeche Mode add extra UK date for May 2013

Depeche Mode have announced an extra night at London's O2 Arena in May 2013. The electronic band will now play the venue on Wednesday, May 29 as well as the previously publicised May 28. These are currently the only UK dates the band have announced as part of a wider European tour next year. Depeche Mode's 34-date European tour kicks off on May 7 in Tel Aviv and features stop-offs at the Rock Werchter Festival in Belgium (July 7), BBK Festival in Spain (July 11) and Optimus Alive Festival in Portugal (July 13). A North American tour will follow later in the year.

Damon Albarn’s Africa Express tour adds new names

The Libertines' Carl Barat, Rizzle Kicks and The Temper Trap are among the new additions to the Africa Express train tour this September. The Africa Express is a collective of African and Western musicians and DJs co-founded by Damon Albarn. As well as gigs in Middlesbrough, Glasgow, Manchester, Cardiff and Bristol, the group will do pop-up performances at railway stations, schools, factories, offices, shopping centres and people's houses. The train will then finish up at King's Cross station in London, for a finale concert at London's Granary Square.

Elbow, Band Of Horses, Hot Chip added to London’s iTunes festival line-up

Elbow, Band Of Horses and Hot Chip are among the new additions to the line-up for London's iTunes Festival this year. Elbow and Bat For Lashes will play together at London's Roundhouse on September 7, while Hot Chip will headline the venue themselves on September 29. Band Of Horses will support Jack White on September 8.

Metronomy, Savages, Coda added to Green Man Festival 2012

Metronomy, Savages and Coda have been added to the bill for this year's Green Man Festival. The festival, which will be headlined by Mogwai, Feist and Van Morrison, takes place in Wales' Brecon Beacons from August 17-19. Also newly added to the line-up are Loney Dear, Tom Williams & The Boat, Dizraeli & The Small Gods, Polaroid 85, Laid Blak and Heymoonshaker. They join a bill that already includes Stephen Malkmus & The Jicks, The Walkmen, Jonathan Richman, The Felice Brothers, Tune-Yards, Of Montreal, King Creosote & Jon Hopkins, Michael Kiwanuka and over 30 other acts.

Jesus And Mary Chain Add New US Tour Dates

The Jesus And Mary Chain have announced a new run of American tour dates. The band have just completed their first US tour in four years, and have now confirmed 18 dates to come starting in August. The band will play: August 2 – Buffalo, NY @ Thursday at the Harbor August 3 – Toronto, ON @ Phoenix Theatre August 4 – Montreal, QC @ Osheaga Festival August 5 – New Orleans, LA @ House of Blues September 6 – Atlanta, GA @ Variety Playhouse September 7 – Raleigh, NC @ Hopscotch Music Festival September 8 – Philadelphia, PA @ Union Transfer

The Best Of 2012 So Far: Additions, Footnotes etc…

Pondering what to write about this morning, it occurred to me that there were more things to say about my favourite albums of 2012 so far, following up from this Top 40 that I posted last week. For a start, a bunch of records that I forgot to include:

Graham Coxon, Alt-J, Patrick Watson added to End Of The Road festival

Blur guitarist Graham Coxon, Alt-J and Patrick Watson are among the new additions to this summer's End Of The Road festival. The festival, which will take place in Larmer Tree Gardens in Wiltshire on August 31 – September 2, will be headlined by Grandaddy, Midlake and a co-headline effort from Grizzy Bear and Tindersticks. Also newly confirmed for the festival are Savages, Creature With The Atom Brain, Gravenhurst, Abi Wade, Big Wave, Olympians, Horse Thief, Hurray For The Riff Raff, King Charles, The Step Kids, Woods, and Zachary Cale.
