Purling Hiss: “Water On Mars”

Could be wrong about this, but I think the track I posted and tweeted most often last year was “Sunshine, No Shoes” by the Philadelphia band, Spacin’: I’m going to add it again after the jump. Spacin’, to recap - though you can follow this link to a blog about them - are a project fronted by Jason Killinger, a spin-off from a longish-established Philly psych band called Birds Of Maya; BOM’s amazing “Ready To Howl” album got a belated UK release last year on Agitated.

“I met Andy Warhol at Madonna and Sean Penn’s wedding”: An interview with Crispin Glover

Catching a relatively straightfoward performance from Crispin Glover in Tim Burton's Alice In Wonderland over the festive season reminded me to dust down this interview I did with the actor for Uncut back in 2005.

The 51st Uncut Playlist Of 2012

We seem to be posting a lot more lists than actual joined-up writing at the moment – Michael’s just put Uncut’s full Top 75 of 2012 on the website, with links, and is promising our Archive/Reissues chart tomorrow – but, hey, here’s another. Among some other good new arrivals, another strong recommendation for Parquet Courts: check them out here.

Bruce Springsteen, Black Keys and Lady Gaga join The Rolling Stones at New Jersey gig

The Rolling Stones played the final scheduled performance of their 50 And Counting run of gigs at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey on Saturday night (December 15). The band kicked off with "Get Off Of My Cloud" and then played "The Last Time", "It's Only Rock 'N' Roll (But I Like It)" and "Paint It, Black" before introducing the first of the night's special guests, Lady Gaga, for "Gimme Shelter".

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds unveil NSFW ‘Push The Sky Away’ album artwork

Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds have unveiled the NSFW artwork for their forthcoming new album, Push The Sky Away. The LP will be the band's fifteenth studio album and is set for release on February 19, 2013. The cover art features a naked woman in a sparsely decorated room and a be-suited Cave holding open the shutters to a window. The album follows 2008's Dig, Lazarus, Dig!!! and was recorded by regular Bad Seeds and Grinderman collaborator Nick Launay at La Fabrique studios, a 19th century mansion in the south of France.
