The Rolling Stones will play small warm-up shows, possibly to take place in Paris, for their forthcoming sold-out dates in London and New York, Ronnie Wood says.
Speaking to NME, guitarist Ronnie Wood said the band may perform under their Cockroaches guise in breaks from rehearsing in Paris.
Oscar-nominated filmmaker Lee Daniels is in talks to direct a Janis Joplin biopic starring Amy Adams.
Adams became attached to the project, titled Get It While You Can, back in 2010. Before Adams, Renee Zellweger had been lined up to play Joplin.
Did you see that terrific BBC4 Squeeze documentary, Take Me I’m Yours, on Friday night? I was more than a little taken aback by the currently be-whiskered Glenn Tilbrook, but I’m sure there’s a plausible explanation for wanting to look like that and otherwise the programme was a timely reminder of the many great songs he and Chris Difford have written over the years. It also put me in mind of an eventful few days I spent with the band in 1980, when they were rather unhappily touring Australia, where I caught up with them in inhospitable Brisbane before we headed for the sunny beaches of Surfer’s Paradise. Bjork is set to release bastards, an album featuring remixed versions of songs from her most recent LP, Biophilia.
bastards will come out on November 19 on her label One Little Indian and includes reworkings of Biophilia tracks by Death Grips, Hudson Mohawke, These New Puritans, Omar Souleyman and more. The remixes were previously released as part of an eight-part series.
Neil Young has hinted that he may reunite Buffalo Springfield.
The singer believes he has unfinished business with the mid-'60s band he formed with Stephen Stills, and may reform the group for a new record. They previously reunited for a brief tour in 2011.
Speaking to The Guardian, Young said:
"Two of the guys are no longer with us, so it's difficult, but we're yet to do something that …you never know."
Johnny Marr's manager, Joe Moss, has flatly denied any truth in the latest Smiths reunion rumours, telling NME: "It isn't happening. We are fully focused on preparing Johnny's new album for release and booking shows for 2013."
Yesterday (October 1), celebrity gossip site Holy Moly created an online buzz by posting an article claiming "several credible sources" had confirmed that The Smiths would reform for four 2013 shows, including Glastonbury Festival.
