New Order closed the first night of Open'er Festival in Gdansk, Poland last night (July 4) with a 90-minute greatest hits set, culminating in an encore of Joy Division classics.
The appearance marked the Factory records legends' first ever appearance in Poland and had particular poignancy as Joy Division were initially named after Polish capital city, Warsaw.
When Bob Dylan played Hop Farm in 2010, it was the hottest weekend of the year and there seemed to be more people at the festival than the site could hold. Michael Nesmith, the former Monkee and country rock pioneer, is to play the UK for the first time in over 30 years.
Nesmith, who left the Monkees in 1970, went on to release three albums with The First National Band between 1970 and 1971, which were later hailed as country rock classics.
