Mick Jagger, David Gilmour, Bryan Ferry urge Scotland to stay in the UK

Mick Jagger, David Gilmour and Bryan Ferry are among a list of more than 200 famous faces who have signed an open letter urging Scottish voters to keep Scotland as part of the United Kingdom. An independence referendum will be held on September 18 which could see Scotland break away from the rest of the UK. The letter, which was organised by historians Dan Snow and Tom Holland, aims to let people in Scotland know that those who have endorsed the message "value the bond of citizenship" with those north of the border.

David Bowie promises “more music soon”

David Bowie has teased a possible new album, confirming that there will be 'more music soon' but stopping short of giving a release date. A statement from Bowie was read out on Saturday at a fundraising event in London, which was held to celebrate 50 years of the rock icon's music and raise money for the Terrence Higgins Trust. The note read: "This city is even better than the one you were in last year, so remember to dance, dance, dance. And then sit down for a minute, knit something, then get up and run all over the place. Do it. Love on ya. More music soon. David."

Watch Prince and Nile Rodgers cover David Bowie

Prince appeared as a special guest during Nile Rodgers' set at the Essence Music Festival on Friday [July 4]. The pair collaborated on a cover of David Bowie's "Let's Dance", which Rodgers co-produced. You can watch fan footage below. Prince was scheduled to appear at the New Orleans festival in his own right, but appeared unbilled on stage during Rodgers' set for the Bowie cover.

David Bowie reveals latest 7″ picture disc

David Bowie has announced details of another 40th anniversary edition 7" picture disc. "Knock On Wood (Live)" b/w "Rock 'N' Roll With Me (Live)" is released on Parlophone September 22, 2014. Originally released in Autumn 1974 and taken from David Live, these two 2005 mixes by Tony Visconti are making their vinyl debut. The original single mix of "Knock On Wood" was a UK Top 10 hit.

David Crosby has been speaking about the forthcoming CSNY 1974 box set. In an interview with Radio.com, Crosby cited one of his highlights of the box set: a rarely performed, never commercially released Neil Young song called "Pushed It Over The End".

Tony Visconti and Woody Woodmansey to perform David Bowie’s The Man Who Sold The World album live

David Bowie's long-term producer Tony Visconti and Mick "Woody" Woodmansey - the only surviving member of The Spider's From Mars - will perform Bowie's third album The Man Who Sold The World, from 1970, in full. They will be joined by an ensemble of ten musicians including Spandau Ballet saxophone player Steve Norman and Heaven 17's Glenn Gregory, The Guardian reports. The event will take place at The Garage on September 17.

David Bowie announces “Diamond Dogs” picture disc

David Bowie is releasing a 7" picture disc of "Diamond Dogs" on June 16. The single was originally released in June, 1974. For this fortieth anniversary reissue, it will be a double A-side with Tony Visconti's 2005 mix of the version of the song that appears the David Live album.

Sex Pistols, David Bowie and Paul Weller among artists set for exclusive Record Store Day releases

Nirvana, Paul Weller and Oasis are among the artists who have contributed releases to Record Store Day 2014. Paul Weller will release new material on a seven-inch, with the single limited to just 2,500 copies. Meanwhile, Nirvana's 'Pennyroyal Tea' will be released on the same format and Oasis' debut single 'Supersonic' will be re-released on 12-inch. David Bowie announces Record Store Day releases

David Bowie will release two limited edition picture discs on Record Store Day next month. The annual celebration of music shops will take place on April 19 and Bowie has outlined plans to release a 7" picture disc of "Rock 'n' Roll Suicide" in the UK, while North American fans will be able to purchase the single "1984" on 7" picture disc.
