David Bowie is among many artists who have paid tribute to Lou Reed, who died yesterday [October 27] aged 71.
A post on Bowie's website read:
"R.I.P. LOU REED
"It is with great sadness that we report the death of Lou Reed who died today aged 71. (March 2, 1942 – October 27, 2013)
David Bowie said of his old friend: 'He was a master.'"
A rare David Bowie promotional radio programme will air on BBC Radio 6 Music today [October 23].
The 15-minute show was recorded by Bowie to promote the release of Bowie's 1973 album Pin Ups but never made it on air. The quarter of an hour broadcast includes tracks from the album, as well as clips of Bowie talking about the London music scene.
David Byrne has laid into online music streaming sites in a new opinion piece.
In the blog, which was published by The Guardian, Byrne says that the 'pittance' paid by sites such as Spotify to artists means that new and upcoming musicians won't be able to survive without supplementing their income in other ways and focusing less on making music.
David Bowie has released his "Sound And Vision 2013" remix.
The new version of 1977 track was originally recorded for an Xperia Z smartphone advert and mixed from the original recording session tapes by Sonjay Prabhakar.
The track, which is only one minute and 48 seconds long, is available to download digitally here.

David Bowie has announced details of a three-disc reissue of his album The Next Day.
Titled The Next Day Extra, the box-set includes the original 14-track album, a 10-track CD of bonus songs and a DVD featuring the four videos made for the album for "Where Are We Now?", "The Stars (Are Out Tonight)", "The Next Day" and "Valentine's Day". It will be released on November 4, according to his website.
David Bowie has reportedly been signed by to appear in the latest television ad campaign by designer Louis Vuitton.
Bowie will star in Vuitton's forthcoming campaign, L'Invitation au Voyage, alongside model Arizona Muse. The advert was shot in Venice this summer and due to be released later this year, according to a story in WWD.
