The Who, Take That, George Michael and Emeli Sande have been confirmed to play at the Olympic Games' closing ceremony this summer.
The concert will take place on August 12 at London's Olympic Park, reports The Mirror. A source close to the Olympic committee said of the line-up: "The committee wanted four major artists, representing Britain over the past 50 years, to headline." They added: "The Who are an inspired throwback to the swinging 60s."
Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page has admitted that he's "rather hurt" that organisers of the London 2012 Olympics haven't included him in their plans.
The defining moment of this year’s Lovebox – possibly, even, of any festival this year – comes about 10 minutes into Peaches’ Sunday afternoon set. It’s already got off to a colourful start. This is soon dispensed with, and she cavorts in what resembles an S&M bra and panties kit, wearing some kind of gimp mask. So far, so odd. Then it gets really weird. This, it transpires, is not Peaches....
A funny year for music so far, personally speaking. It seems that, despite the many albums I’ve liked, there have been a good few that’ve been, one way or another, kind of disappointing: albums I’ve looked forward to very much, then neurotically restrained myself from writing about, due to my self-imposed rule about negative criticism generally wasting time and space. There’s still too much stuff to enthuse about, after all.
