We only interviewed Elmore Leonard once in Uncut. This was around the release of Jackie Brown, Quentin Tarantino’s adaptation of Leonard’s novel Rum Punch; coincidentally, Leonard also had a new novel out at the same time, Cuba Libre.
Elmore Leonard has died, aged 87. He had been hospitalized since suffering a stroke in early August.
Writing on the author's Facebook page, Gregg Sutter, Leonard's researcher and webmaster said, "The post I dreaded to write, and you dreaded to read. Elmore passed away at 7:15 this morning from complications from his stroke. He was at home surrounded by his loving family."
For all his flailing locks and dazed expression, Ty Segall does not make a particularly convincing slacker. In a short promotional clip for his new album, released on Youtube back in May, he pretends to be asleep in bed, on his couch, in a garden and then, preposterously, up a tree and at the wheel of a moving van.
Following last night's breaking news that Neil Young & Crazy Horse have cancelled the remaining dates on their European tour, a source has now confirmed the reasons behind the cancellation.
According to a report on Rolling Stone, a source close to the Young camp has explained that Crazy Horse guitarist Frank 'Poncho' Sampedro has broken his hand.

Metallica are set to release the soundtrack for their forthcoming 3D feature film Metallica - Through The Never on September 23.
Metallica - Through The Never (Music from the Motion Picture) will comprise two CDs and includes tracks from their shows last year at Rexall Place in Edmonton and Rogers Arena in Vancouver, the gigs where the band recorded all their performance footage for the movie. A vinyl version will be available later in the year. The film will be released in the US on September 27 and in the UK later this autumn.
We find ourselves in the wrong bar by mistake. Arriving at Hyde Park for this second London show on the Stones' 50 & Counting tour, we're issued with numerous coloured plastic wristbands that are intended to identify where we can travel around the site. There is this bar, that tier, this restaurant, these toilets... one of the first questions we're asked as we enter the site is whether we have a dinner reservation.
Last week started on an absolute high when Neil Young & Crazy Horse’s Alchemy tour rocked up to London’s 02 Arena, turbulence in its wake, some of the crowds they had recently played to evidently unhappy with aspects of the band’s current set, notably the long jams around the songs they are playing from last year’s Psychedelic Pill, especially “Walk Like A Giant” and the extended feedback cacophony of its final 10 minutes, which was spectacularly brutal. Audiences in Birmingham and Newcastle had been from all accounts clearly agitated.
