Neil Young & Crazy Horse: London O2 Arena, June 17, 2013

If, at this late date, you still need proof Neil Young is not a man to be trusted, something akin to that arrives about two and a quarter hours into his show at London’s O2 Arena.

The Making Of… The Waterboys’ The Whole Of The Moon

This month’s issue of Uncut (June 2013) features The Waterboys discussing their mammoth new Fisherman’s Box release – here, in this archive feature from Uncut’s July 2008 issue, the band, including Mike Scott and Karl Wallinger, reflect on the creation of their pop masterpiece, The Whole Of The Moon. Expect disagreements, still; arguments about musical contributions, worries over spending life in prison for hitting someone over the head with a guitar… Words: Nick Hasted

The best of Record Store Day: hear Malkmus, Ty Segall, Golden Gunn, Moon Duo, Dan Deacon and more

It’s Record Store Day on Saturday; a kind of weird, but necessary I guess, annual event that’s become a critical point in release schedules. I’ve been going through the lists of releases at recordstoreday.com and thought it might be worth picking out a few things that are worth looking out for. Increasingly, a fair amount of the day’s business is built on canny catalogue management aimed at collectors (especially vinyl fetishists), and there are a bunch of things here that fall roughly into that sector:

David Bowie Is… V&A, London

Towards the end of the V&A’s terrific David Bowie Is… exhibition, tucked away on a wall next to the handwritten lyrics for “Heroes” and a postcard from Christopher Isherwood, are a set of door keys that have evidently seen better days.

Speaking about the dates, singer Stevie Nicks said: "It's the perfect time to go back out. 2013 is going to be the year of Fleetwood Mac."

John Cooper Clarke, London Queen Elizabeth Hall, October 4 2012

It was National Poetry Day last week, a date I’m sure you found your own ways to celebrate. I was at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, where John Cooper Clarke was in residence for the evening, headlining a show that also featured appearances by fellow poets Mike Garry and Luke Wright, a couple of sharp young wordsmiths who by the look of them may not have been capable of joined-up writing when Clarke was in his glorious early pomp and may possibly not even have been born then, Wright especially looking like he’s only just stopped being looked after by baby-sitters and cooed over in a crib.

Bob Dylan announces North American arena tour

Bob Dylan has announced a North American arena tour in support of his forthcoming album, The Tempest. The arena dates begins in Winnipeg, Manitoba on October 5 and runs through November 21 in Brooklyn, New York. The Tempest, which is the 35th studio album of Dylan's career, will come out on September 10 in the UK and September 11 in the US.
