Iggy Pop unveils new material at SXSW showcase

Iggy Pop unveiled new material from his forthcoming album 'Ready To Die' (March 13) at Mohawk Outdoor at SXSW in Austin, Texas. As well as airing classic tracks 'Raw Power', 'Fun House' and 'I Wanna Be Your Dog', the tiny show saw Iggy and The Stooges playing material from their forthcoming new album, 'Ready To Die', live for the first time. Iggy calling the performances of the material "world premieres".

Iggy And The Stooges have announced that they will release their new album 'Ready To Die' on April 30. 'Ready To Die' is the band's first studio collection since 2007's 'The Weirdness' (released under the more condensed name "The Stooges") and the first album of all-new material featuring Iggy Pop, guitarist James Williamson and drummer Scott Asheton since 1973's classic 'Raw Power'. Mike Watt fills in for the late Ron Asheton on bass.
